SOCAL ICON is an annual solo vocal competition for young aspiring singers between the ages of 7-18. There are three age divisions and, in the end, there will be three winners (one from each age group.)
This is the fifth year for the contest event (formerly known as Inland Idol and OC Idol). The three winners will each receive identical prize packages which will include:
• Trophy • Gift Certificates from Sam Ash Music Stores • Professional Demo Recorded at Red Room Studios in Anaheim • Vocal coaching session from Monteleone Voice Instruction in Fullerton • Professional Photography session from Jim Dorsey Photography in Corona • Free session of performing arts workshops from ICON Performing Arts in Eastvale.
One of the contestants will be awarded a “Best Showmanship” award by Jonathan George of JG Entertainment and given a scholarship to attend Hollywood Launch in Los Angeles.
This year’s ICONs will be selected by a combination vote from the four judges(40%) and the audience (60%) who will cast votes (via ballots) for each age group. Some of the notable past finalists and past winners include: • Xenia Marinez (finalist on NBC’s “The Voice”) • Arianna Afsar (top 30 on “American Idol” and 2010 Miss California) • Rachel Crow (finalist on “The X factor”)
The lobby will open at 4:45pm with seating beginning at 5:30pm. The show will start at 6pm.
